Why Are My Windows Fogging?

Foggy windows are a common issue for homeowners, especially in Florida’s humid climate. This problem occurs when the seal between the panes of your double- or triple-pane windows fails, allowing moisture to seep into the space between the glass. In short time builder-grade windows, often installed in new construction homes to keep costs low, are more prone to seal failure due to their lower-quality materials and manufacturing.

At Schulte Construction Inc., we understand the frustration of dealing with foggy windows. That’s why we offer premium hurricane-rated replacement windows designed to stand up to Florida’s challenging weather conditions. In addition to the added strength and security, our windows feature advanced seal technology and superior materials to prevent moisture intrusion and ensure lasting clarity and performance.

When you upgrade our windows, you’ll not only eliminate fogging but also enjoy enhanced energy efficiency, noise reduction, and hurricane protection. Say goodbye to foggy views and hello to windows that look and perform better for years to come. Contact us today to learn more about our high-quality replacement window solutions.

Full-Frame Window Replacement Installation Guide

Installing full-frame replacement windows requires precision, experience, and the right tools. At Schulte Construction Inc., we ensure your new hurricane-impact windows are installed to perform and last—while improving your home’s comfort, safety, and efficiency.

Tools & Materials Used:

  • Full-frame replacement windows
  • Caulk and caulking gun
  • Tape measure
  • Flashing tape
  • Pry bar, utility knife
  • Spray foam insulation
  • Screws, drill & impact driver
  • Level and shims

Step-by-Step Window Installation Process:

1. Measure and Order the Replacement Windows
  • Measure the rough opening (stud-to-stud) after removing trim.
  • Use the smallest measurement from top, middle, and bottom.
  • Ensure full-frame replacements—not inserts—are ordered.
2. Prepare the Area & Remove the Old Window
  • Remove all trim and cut through any caulk or paint seals.
  • Carefully pry out the old window and clean the rough opening.
3. Inspect the Rough Opening
  • Check for water damage or rot and repair as needed.
  • Use shims to ensure the opening is level and square.
4. Dry Fit the New Window
  • Test-fit the new window in the opening.
  • Adjust with shims to make sure it’s centered, plumb, and level.
5. Apply Waterproofing & Flashing
  • Flashing tape is applied bottom–sides–top to direct water away.
  • A drip cap may be added to divert water over the window.
6. Insert & Secure the Window
  • Place the window starting from the bottom.
  • Use shims and screws to secure it per manufacturer guidelines.
7. Insulate Around the Frame
  • Fill gaps with low-expanding spray foam to prevent air leaks.
8. Seal the Window
  • Exterior caulking around the window perimeter prevents moisture.
  • Reinstall exterior trim and ensure a weather-tight finish.
9. Interior Trim & Finishing Touches
  • Reinstall interior casing, then caulk and finish as needed.
10. Test Window Operation
  • Open and close the window to ensure proper function and alignment.
  • Check for air tightness and smooth locking.

Trust Schulte Construction Inc. for professional full-frame window replacement that meets Florida’s building codes and raises your home’s value, performance, and hurricane resistance.
